Marry on the water

Your ceremony can happen on board — bow, rooftop or upper deck, with the harbour moving past behind you. Bring your own celebrant, or we can point you toward ones who work on the water regularly and know how the day flows.

We'll hold position somewhere quiet for the ceremony, then get underway for the reception. Guests board once, and there's no shuttling between a church and a venue — no travel gap, no lost hour, no guests getting lost on the way.

The difference

What a function room can't do

A function room has a view. Luna has a changing one — vows at golden hour, canapés past the Opera House, the Bridge overhead by the time the dancing starts. The backdrop moves through the whole evening.

You get the boat to yourselves — no other wedding within cooee, no strangers wandering through your photos, no staff resetting the room around your speeches. One couple, one boat, one day that belongs entirely to the two of you.

And nobody slips away before the cake. On the water, your guests are there for every moment — vows, dinner, dancing — because there's nowhere else for them to be. When you disembark as a married couple, the whole crowd is still with you.

Yes. Bring your own celebrant, or we can suggest ones who regularly work on the water. The legal paperwork is exactly the same as a ceremony on land — your celebrant handles the Notice of Intended Marriage and the registration. We just provide the aisle.

Yes, and most couples do. We'll hold somewhere sheltered for the ceremony, then get underway. Your guests board once and stay put — no transfers, no gap in the day.

This is the question every couple asks, and it's the one where a boat beats an outdoor venue outright. Every guest can be under cover — the lower deck is fully enclosed and the upper deck is covered — so the day runs regardless. There's no wet-weather plan to agonise over, because the cover is already there.

All of them. Tell us who's coming and when they need access and we'll build it into the timings. Suppliers board with the guests unless you need them on earlier for setup.

Yes. Tell us what light you want and we'll build the route around it — we know where to be on the harbour at golden hour, and we can hold position while your photographer works.

Both work. A seated reception with a dance floor is a smaller guest list than a standing cocktail celebration, so tell us the format you're picturing and we'll tell you honestly what it looks like on Luna.

Sydney Harbour is sheltered and Luna is a heavy timber vessel, so the movement is gentle — most guests forget they're on a boat within twenty minutes. Boarding is level at the wharf. If you've got guests with mobility needs, tell us early and we'll pick the boarding point that suits.

Boats can't wait the way a venue can. We'll set a boarding window and put it on your invitations, and we'll hold as long as the wharf booking allows — but build a buffer into your start time. It's the one thing to plan around.

Yes — bring a DJ, a band or your own playlist. There's a PA on board and a deck that's made for dancing.

Saturdays between October and April go first, often twelve months out. If you have a fixed date, talk to us early. Weekdays and winter dates are far more available and often better value.

No — Luna is not wheelchair accessible. Stairs connect the decks, so guests need to be able to step on and off the vessel, and prams can't be taken on board. If anyone in your group has specific access needs, get in touch and we'll talk through what's possible.
